Iguassu – Argentina

After a month in Buenos Aires it was time to move on. We wanted to see the famous Iguassu falls on both argentinian and brazilian side. So we booked the two hours flight to the argentine airport of Puerto Iguazû. The climate was more like we love it? around 34 degrees and tropical (humid) and the rain showers we saw from the airplane finished to pour their last drops before we landed allowing us to enjoy three very hot sunny days between Argentina and Brasil.

The argentinian side is the one where most of the falls actually are. You can walk to the top of the falls, along the bottom and on a boat you can even get right into the waterfall. The Iguazu national park is a well organized tourist attraction, with a nice little train which takes you from one end to the other of the falls in a convenient way and several hiking trails that get you close to the “action” and through dense animal filled forest. The spectacle of the falls is breathtaking and absolutely incredible. People who have been to both the Niagara Falls and the Iguassù Falls all told us the same: “Forget the tiny, little Niagara Falls, Iguazù is the real deal!” ;-). I guess that’s a bit exaggerated and one needs to see both before judging, but just to give you an idea about the huge size of these waterfalls and the effect they have on the spectators…

Since you more or less are on top or at the bottom of the falls, you never get an overview, that’s the specialty of the brazilian side of the park… in the next post!
