Summer school holidays are starting… what better time could there be to end up in some of the top holiday destinations for sydneyers and melbourners (No idea if that’s how they’re called). Luckily it looks as if they’re only just getting ready to receive thousands of people… still it seems really quiet, and preparation are ongoing in seasonal tourist attraction spots like luna parks or waterfront concerts, …
Lakes Entrance (VIC)
Our first stop along the way between Victoria and New South Wales was a lovely little town which is both lakeside and seaside. A quiet campsite right next to the water (lakeside) was the base for our tours to the beach, the city and the minigolf…
Not caught on camera, on our way between Victoria and New South Wales, we have encountered a 2m long green lizard (don’t ask us what it was exactly) in the middle of the street, right after a hilly section with no speed limit…. Our breaks were tested for the first time, and – luckily – the van slowed down just enough to allow a right-left-right manouver to avoid the beast, and see it disappear into the bush as if nothing had happened. Well, at least nothing happened to the lizard…. our shaking from the shock took some time to stop… :-/
If you are a green Australian lizard, and are reading this, don’t you ever, ever, do that again, understand?!
Merimbula (NSW)
Our Australian summer holiday continued in Merimbula, some three or four driving hours from Sydney, with beach life, strolling around the city, nice meals and drinks by the water, in a beautiful nature with some lovely temperatures (though some might disagree about the water temperature) and plenty of sunshine.
This is exactly what we expected, when we thought of spending “our” winter in summer 😉
