Day 2
After having a troubled night because of the altitude (we slept at over 4300m), day two was all about incredible sceneries. Our guide “Casi” offered to drive us through an alternative road to the planned one in order to see some different landscapes than the ones we had seen on the first day. We all agreed on this and the result was another extraordinary day…
We started by driving past the lagoon we had seen the previous day, but from the opposite side. We stopped to take pictures of lamas, to walk a while in a rocky region where old rock paintings can still be seen. We “lifted” the world cup rock 😉 and found an idyllic spot to have a tasty lunch. Another short walk through grassy fields and rocky hills and we drove to a nearby canyon: The view from the top was unbeatable… We then continued on to a little village for a short break and reached our “salt hostel” just in time for tea :-D. This night we stayed in a salt hostel: all walls, beds, floor, tables, …. were made of salt. The first clue that we’re getting closer to the famous salt flat of Uyuni…
continues… day 3
